  • 2010 State Handwriting WinnersIn April, 2010, Zaner-Bloser, the Language Arts and Reading Company, announced that in St. Herman of Alaska Christian School, the following students have been named Massachusetts State Champions in their respective grade category: Natasha Snogren, Elizabeth Kouranova, Natalia Popovska, and Irene Galarneau. Of these students, Natasha Snogren went on to win the national championship for all students in the second grade. Congratulations to all and especially Natasha! Their entries were selected from among nearly 300,000 entries received from students nationally. As state winners, they will receive a $250 prize pack for their school from Zaner-Bloser and will be eligible to win as much as $3,000 in cash and prizes to be shared with their school. The annual Zaner-Bloser National Handwriting Contest encourages legible handwriting by testing the handwriting abilities of students in grades 1 through 8 whose schools use Zaner-Bloser Handwriting curricula. “Handwriting is a core academic skill and a core life skill that improves academic performance and boosts self esteem” said Zaner-Bloser President Bob Page. “We’re very pleased to see so many students and their schools dedicate themselves to developing the efficient handwriting skills that will benefit them for a lifetime.” To view the list of state and national winners, please visit http://zaner-bloser.com/nationalhandwritingcontest/.
