One of our teachers heard this story while in Greece. It is a true story about a conversation between a young man and Elder Paisios.

A young man went to an elder and asked, "What career should I choose?" The elder replied, "You should be a kindergarten teacher. If you cannot be a kindergarten teacher, you should be an elementary school teacher. If you cannot teach in elementary school, you should teach in middle school. If you cannot teach middle school, you should teach high school. If you cannot teach in the high school, then at the very least become a professor in the university." The young man asked the elder for an explanation to this advice. The elder replied, "There is nothing more important than nurturing and cultivating young souls.
